Marcus Rashford benched against Getafe after being two minutes late

Marcus Rashford was left out of Barcelona’s starting XI against Getafe on Sunday after arriving two minutes late to the team’s morning check-in, according to ESPN.
The 27-year-old forward had been expected to start following his midweek brace against Newcastle United in the Champions League, but coach Hansi Flick’s strict punctuality rule saw him relegated to the bench. Rashford arrived at 9:32 a.m. for a scheduled 9:30 a.m. report time, with the squad due to meet before an 11 a.m. activation session.
Flick has a zero-tolerance policy on lateness, with several players having previously been dropped for similar infractions. Raphinha was benched just last weekend against Valencia for arriving late, while Jules Kounde and former goalkeeper Inaki Pena have also fallen foul of the rule.
Rashford entered at halftime and made an impact, assisting Dani Olmo’s goal in the 3-0 victory after Ferran Torres netted a first-half brace.
The England international, on loan from Manchester United, is beginning to settle in at Barcelona. After failing to produce in his first four games, he has now contributed two goals and two assists in his last three appearances.
Barcelona will return to action on Thursday with a La Liga trip to Real Oviedo, aiming to extend their unbeaten start to the season.
