Crystal Palace agree £26m deal for Yeremy Pino

Published on August 27, 2025 by master

Crystal Palace have agreed a deal in principle worth up to £26m with Villarreal for Spain winger Yeremy Pino. The 22-year-old is believed to be open to a move to Selhurst Park and is expected to complete a medical in the coming days. Pino has a £69m release clause, but with there being less than two years left to run on his contract, Villarreal have decided to accept Palace’s offer. The Eagles have moved for Pino after England forward Eberechi Eze’s £60m move to Arsenal last week. Eze, 27, was Palace’s talisman last season, scoring 14 goals and recording 11 assists in 43 games as the club won the FA Cup – the first major trophy in their history. After Palace’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest at the weekend, manager Oliver Glasner said he was “very confident” the club would make new signings before deadline day on Monday following a quiet transfer window. The club have made only two signings this summer – goalkeeper Walter Benitez’s arrival from PSV Eindhoven on a free transfer and defender Borna’s Sosa’s £3m move from Ajax. Palace have also made a move for Manchester City’s 30-year-old Switzerland defender Manuel Akanji, who the club value at £15m. Pino came through Las Palmas’ youth set-up before joining Villareal in 2017. He made his full debut in 2020 and scored four goals in 34 league games last season to help Villarreal finish fifth and qualify for the Champions League. Pino has scored three goals in 15 internationals for Spain since making his debut in 2021. Source: bbc

Chelsea make formal bid for Fermin Lopez – Fabrizio Romano

Published on August 26, 2025 by master

Chelsea have made a bid to sign Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez before the transfer window shuts on September 1, according to reports. The Blues have signed Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, Jorrel Hato, Liam Delap, Estevao, Dario Essugo, Mamadou Sarr and Kendry Paez so far this summer but they are expected to make at least a couple more signings before the window shuts. Earlier on Tuesday, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Chelsea are ‘very advanced’ to sign Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United this summer and ‘all parties expect it to happen’. Romano wrote on X: ‘Alejandro Garnacho and Chelsea, deal remains very advanced with all parties expected it to happen. Garnacho has rejected new approach from Saudi Pro League in last 48h, he only wants Chelsea as destination.’ There have also been rumours they could look to sign RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Xavi Simons before the deadline as they search for young, talented players. And Barcelona midfielder Fermin fits the profile of player that Chelsea are on the lookout for with Spanish publication Sport insisting that the Catalan giants have ‘received a formal offer’ from the Blues for the Spain international. The report adds: ‘Chelsea have made their move and submitted a firm offer to sign the Barca international for €50 million. Deco is handling the details of the Blues’ proposal, and Fermín and his entourage are also aware of this option to join Stamford Bridge this season ‘Barca is carefully evaluating Chelsea’s offer, as Fermin’s departure for 50 million euros would solve all their problems. It’s worth remembering that Szczesny, Gerard Martin, and Roony Bardgjhi are awaiting the departures of Inaki Pena, Oriol Romeu, and Hector Fort in order to be registered; and that the transfer window has been limited to the aforementioned Roony, Joan Garci, and Rashford’s loan.’ Without confirming whether Chelsea had made a bid, The Athletic‘s David Ornstein revealed that the Blues are ‘evaluating the possibility of a move’ for Fermin. Ornstein went on to claim that ‘there is not currently club-to-club contact’ with Chelsea ‘in touch with the player’s camp as they explore attacking options in case of exits, given Barca’s depth in the position’. Carney Chukwuemeka joins Dortmund on a permanent transfer

Published on August 26, 2025 by master

Borussia Dortmund have confirmed the permanent signing of Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea following last season’s successful loan spell. The 21-year-old midfielder, who spent the second half of the 2024/25 campaign with BVB, has put pen to paper on a five-year deal at Signal Iduna Park. “Carney has enormous potential, which he has already demonstrated with us in the second half of last season. He can make the difference by consistently finding solutions in tight spaces and gives us an additional footballing element in midfield that is very beneficial,” said sporting director Sebastien Kehl. The player himself added, “It feels really good to now be an integral part of BVB. I’ve gotten to know this club, the coach, my teammates, and the fans over the past few months, and I’m just happy that Borussia Dortmund is now my new footballing home. I will give everything I can to ensure that we achieve our goals as a team.” Chukwuemeka joined Dortmund on a temporary basis in January this year and went on to make 17 appearances in all competitions, including four at the FIFA Club World Cup. He scored one goal for BVB last term, in the 4-1 Matchday 28 victory over Freiburg. During his three-year spell at Chelsea, the England youth international scored twice in 32 appearances, with injuries preventing him from spending more time on the pitch. Chukwuemeka is Dortmund’s third major signing of the summer transfer window following the arrivals of Jobe Bellingham and Patrick Drewes from Sunderland and Bochum respectively. He will wear the number 17 shirt. He could make his second debut as early as this weekend, when BVB host Union Berlin on Bundesliga Matchday 2. Niko Kovač’s side kicked off their 2025/26 league campaign with a 3-3 draw at St. Pauli on Saturday evening. Source: bundesliga

Bukayo Saka suffers hamstring injury and will be out for 3 weeks

Published on August 26, 2025 by master

Bukayo Saka has added a second big name to the Gunners’ injury list during their 5-0 win against Leeds on Saturday, but luckily for Arsenal fans the injury doesn’t appear to be as bad as first feared. Saka, 23, had already scored in helping Arsenal to a 3-0 lead in the game, and his body language was that of disappointment as trainers treated a left hamstring injury early in the second half. He limped off the pitch, handing off the captain’s arm band he received when Martin Odegaard left the game through a shoulder injury in the first half. All this comes days after Kai Havertz suffered an injury that seemed to fast-forward Arsenal’s pursuit of Eberechi Eze, who the club unveiled before the game. The Gunners are hoping this is nothing that serious, and a report from the BBC says that Saka will only miss ‘four weeks’ with the hamstring injury. That means he could only miss their huge Premier League game at Liverpool on Sunday, while he will also be unavailable for England during the international break. Potentially Saka could be fit to return to action when Arsenal face Nottingham Forest on September 13, but more likely is the Champions League game just before their huge clash at home against Manchester City on September 21. Rio Ngumoha scores last-gasp winner for Liverpool to beat 10-man Newcastle

Published on August 25, 2025 by master

Rio Ngumoha scored a sensational last-gasp winner as Liverpool overcame 10-man Newcastle 3-2 in a Premier League game for the ages on Monday. Newcastle played the second half with 10 men after Anthony Gordon was sent off just before halftime. When Liverpool, 1-0 up at the break, went 2-0 ahead seconds into the new half it looked like game over for Eddie Howe’s depleted side. But Bruno Guimarães’ header in the 57th minute gave it a lifeline and the crowd of 52,200 at St James’ Park erupted in the 88th when substitute William Osula got on the end of a long punt to poke the ball past Allison and level the scores. Second-half injuries to Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali and Fabian Schar prompted at least 11 minutes of added time and, as Newcastle continued to pound Liverpool’s ragged rearguard, it looked like it might grab the most unlikely of winners. However, Arne Slot’s late substitutions shifted the balance again. Ngumoha was given his Premier league debut six minutes into added time and four minutes later the unmarked winger swept home the winner with aplomb. The goal came four days before his 17th birthday and made him the fourth youngest scorer in Premier League history behind James Vaughan, James Milner, and Wayne Rooney. “This is what makes the Premier League so special,” Slot said. “Every fan around the world would have enjoyed watching this game of football, also because their fans were amazing. I’m not too sure it was a football match today. It was set-piece after set-piece, long throw after long throw. We didn’t collapse and stood strong. We didn’t play well enough on the ball. I don’t think there was so much open play.” The action on the field overshadowed the behind-the-scenes drama that dominated the buildup to what has become one of the league’s most anticipated matchups. Most of the pre-game debate surrounded the fate of Newcastle’s unhappy striker Alexander Isak. The Sweden forward has been prolific for Newcastle over the last two seasons but he wants a transfer and has not played since the Saudi-owned club rejected Liverpool’s 110 million pound bid this month. There was much talk about how Newcastle fans would confront the controversy, and before kickoff they unveiled a flag saluting coach Howe and a banner with the pointed message: “Nothing Is Achieved Alone. We Are A City. A Whole Population.” Gordon looked to step into the main striking role and was a fiery presence during a thrilling first half. Against the run of play, Ryan Gravenberch scored his first Liverpool game in the league in 16 months. Gordon then made it worse for Newcastle by chopping down Virgil van Dijk from behind, his second red card in the league. Hugo Ekitike, who Newcastle wanted to sign in the offseason, poked home his second Liverpool goal in two games straight after halftime and Newcastle fell into damage limitation mode. Guimaraes launched the comeback but Ngumoha will take the plaudits after an unforgettable game. “It’s a dream debut I’m very, very pleased for Rio,” Van Dijk said. “He has to keep working hard, to stay humble but definitely have to enjoy this, because you can’t take these nights for granted. With the players we have in the squad, I’m sure he’ll be back in a hard training session tomorrow.” The result left Liverpool as one of only three teams to win its first two games, along with Arsenal and Tottenham. Howe’s side has one point from its first two games.

Inter kick off the Serie A season in style

Published on August 25, 2025 by master

Cristian Chivu got off to the perfect start in his first Serie A match as Inter Milan boss, with the Nerazzurri beating Torino 5-0 to secure their biggest-ever victory over them since the 1958/59 season. After narrowly missing out on back-to-back Scudettos last season, Inter’s 2025/26 campaign got off to the best possible start when they took the lead via Alessandro Bastoni 18 minutes in. A whipped corner from Nicolo Barella found the head of the defender, whose near-post glance floated over the head of goalkeeper Franco Israel and into the far-right corner. And things got even better for the home side later in the first half, when Marcus Thuram capitalised on some lax Torino defending, before sliding a tidy finish into Israel’s side netting. Now fully in the swing of things, the Champions League runners-up added a third just after the restart, with skipper Lautaro Martinez doing his bit to end all realistic chances of a Torino comeback. Once again, it was Torino who were the architects of their own downfall, with an outstretched Martinez latching on to a rogue backpass to steer home. Inter were keen to make a statement during their first outing of the season, and they did just that, adding two more goals beyond the hour mark, with Thuram firstly rising highest in the box to guide a delightful Bastoni cross into the back of the net. His replacement, Ange-Yoan Bonny, also got in on the act. Having failed to learn from their previous lessons, Torino’s defence was once again caught out while trying to play out from the back, with Martinez pouncing before laying it off to his substitute strike partner to make it five. It’s a result that takes Inter top of the fledgling Serie A table and marks the first time since 2003 they’ve won on the opening matchday under a foreign-born coach. Source: tribalfootball

Jobe Bellingham’s parents BANNED from Borussia Dortmund’s dressing room after confrontation with manager

Published on August 25, 2025 by master

Borussia Dortmund have clamped down on their dressing room protocols by banning all family members from the area after Saturday’s reported incident involving Jobe Bellingham’s father. Leading 3-1 at St Pauli in the 85th minute of their Bundesliga season-opener, Dortmund squandered their advantage to draw 3-3. The tension around that result was only reportedly heightened by Bellingham’s parents, Mark and Denise, who left unhappy after seeing their son substituted off at half-time on his German top-flight debut and waited in the tunnel at full-time to confront the Dortmund hierarchy about it. Mark, who also acts as his son’s advisor, held an emotional discussion with Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl. The report also claims Mark Bellingham voiced his frustration over both the substitution and the team’s overall performance in a meeting with manager Niko Kovac directly and ‘made no secret of his opinion.’ Some Dortmund players are also said to have noticed how emotional he was, with his anger reportedly fuelled by both his son’s early substitution and the disappointing display. But speaking about the situation on Sunday evening, Dortmund’s managing director Lars Ricken played down the nature of the chat insisting it was ‘not a problem’ but did confirm that an incident like this will not happen in future with family members now banned from that area. ‘We got Jobe Bellingham because we really built a relationship of trust with the parents over the years. Now the family flew in especially for their son’s first Bundesliga game and wanted to meet Jobe after the game,’ Ricken told Sky90 – The Football Debate. ‘They stood in the hallway to the locker room and had an emotional conversation with Sebastian, which, however, is not a problem at all given this relationship. ‘In the future though, we will ensure that players, coaches, and any officials have access to the locker room area, so that we no longer get into trouble by commenting on such news. ‘But today everything has been resolved – no drama.’ Nineteen-year-old Bellingham, who joined Dortmund this summer in a £32million move from Sunderland, started Saturday’s clash away at St Pauli but was withdrawn at the interval by Kovac after an ineffective first half.
