Antonio Rudiger to miss three months due to an injury to the anterior rectus of his left leg

Published on September 12, 2025 by master

Antonio Rudiger will be sidelined for approximately three months following a new injury, according to Arancha Rodriguez. The German center-back, who has already faced a challenging 2025 due to a combination of disciplinary and injury issues, will now miss the first part of the 2025/26 season. Rudiger, who underwent surgery in April for a torn lateral meniscus in his left knee, had been scheduled to return around late August. However, the latest update confirms that he will remain out as the club monitors his recovery. This absence comes after the six-match ban he received earlier in the year for violent conduct during the Copa del Rey final, which already sidelined him for the end of Real Madrid’s season and start of Los Blancos’ campaign. Since joining Real Madrid as a free agent in June 2022, Rudiger has been a key figure in defense, helping the club lift La Liga and the Champions League in the 2023–24 season. Despite losing his status as an undroppable starter, he remains valued for his experience and depth. Real Madrid will now need to adjust their defensive plans for the coming months without the services of the 32-year-old, who has also been instrumental for the Germany national team. Source: tribuna

Jack Grealish wins Premier League’s Player of the Month

Published on September 12, 2025 by master

Jack Grealish has been named the Premier League’s Player of the Month for August, capping a superb start to life at Everton that David Moyes believes is “just the start” for the England international. The 30-year-old, who joined on loan from Manchester City this summer, has wasted no time making his mark on Merseyside. He has already produced four assists in just two league starts in wins over Brighton and Wolves, more than any other player in the division after three games. His contribution has been pivotal to Everton’s strong opening, following a cameo off the bench in their opener against Leeds. This is the first time Grealish has won the monthly accolade, and he becomes the first Everton player to claim the award since Dominic Calvert-Lewin in September 2020. For Moyes, the recognition reflects both Grealish’s talent and his determination to prove himself again. “He’s come back with the right mindset to produce, and he has produced for us,” Moyes said. “He’s made a big difference. It’s nothing down to me, it’s down to Jack Grealish. He’s looked after himself and worked incredibly hard. It’s just the start for Jack.” Saturday’s clash with Grealish’s former club, Aston Villa, offers another chance to underline his resurgence. He has already made history by becoming the first Everton player to register multiple assists in consecutive league games, and could extend that run to three. Source: yahoosports

Aymeric Laporte joins Athletic Bilbao after Fifa approval

Published on September 11, 2025 by master

Athletic Bilbao have signed Spain defender Aymeric Laporte from Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr after Fifa changed its initial decision and approved the transfer. The La Liga club originally tried to bring in the 31-year-old on 1 September but the move was not completed before the transfer deadline. The Spanish football federation (RFEF) then asked the world governing body to make an exception to its rules to allow a move to go through but the request was denied. It sought to overturn the decision – the request was then granted. Spanish media said Al-Nassr had not filed the details of the transfer online into Fifa’s transfer matching system. Former Manchester City player Laporte made more than 200 appearances in his first spell at the Basque club between 2012 and 2018. “Athletic Club would like to report that Fifa has authorised the RFEF to obtain the International Transfer Certificate (ITC) from the Saudi Arabian football federation,” said Athletic in a statement. “Once the ITC is issued, Aymeric Laporte can be registered with Athletic Club.” Laporte spent five years at City, winning five Premier League titles and the Champions League, before moving to Al-Nassr in 2023. He has made 40 appearances for Spain and was part of their Euro 2024 winning team. Source: bbc

Wolfsburg sign Christian Eriksen on a free transfer from Manchester United

Published on September 10, 2025 by master

Wolfsburg have completed the signing of veteran Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen on a free transfer. Eriksen, who had been without a club since leaving Premier League side Manchester United at the end of last season, has signed a two-year contract with the Wolves. “VfL Wolfsburg is my first club in the Bundesliga – I’m really looking forward to this new adventure,” said the 33-year-old.  “I’m convinced we can achieve something together at Wolfsburg. The talks with the club bosses went very well. I immediately sensed that Paul Simonis has a clear vision for the team and for me personally. The fact that there are several familiar faces in the squad from the Danish national team makes VfL a particularly attractive proposition for me.” “We’re really pleased that this opportunity has arisen for us at short notice,” said Wolfsburg sporting director Sebastian Schindzielorz. “In Christian Eriksen, we’re getting a player who has seen and experienced everything at the highest level. His enormous experience, his quality on the pitch and his personality will be a valuable boost to our young players in particular. “We’ve deliberately made structural changes this summer and signed several talented youngsters with great potential. Christian will complement our experienced captain, Max Arnold, perfectly. He’s a true leader who can make a difference on and off the pitch.” He signed for Manchester United in July 2022 after a six-month spell at Brentford, registering eight goals and 19 assists in 107 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions. Eriksen could be in line for his Wolfsburg debut when Paul Simonis’ team welcome Cologne to the Volkswagen Arena this Saturday. Source: bundesliga
